When waiting for the Emergency Medical Services to arrive, keep yourself safe. Keep an eye out for the person who stabbed the victim, and reassure the victim that the EMS are on the way. Keep talking to them and keep them warm. If the wound is on a leg, you will want to raise the leg, as this makes it harder for blood to leave through the wound.
After you have called the EMS, put the phone on speakerphone, as they will be able to offer you advice and tell you exactly how close the ambulance and police are.
